This week is Nurses’ Week; May 6 is Nurses’ Day. Let’s take time during this week to reflect on our nursing careers, to remember why we choose nursing as a profession, the changes we have seen over the years, and most importantly what we can do to strengthen our profession.
Christy Swinson did an outstanding job last month with her presentation on Integrating Alternative Therapies to Nursing Practice: A Patient-Centered Focus. Everyone enjoyed the aromatherapy, as we sniffed and sampled the different scents, each with a different purpose. We have all seen the difference these therapies have on our patients. Many of us have integrated these therapies into our daily practice.
I would like to personally thank the nominating committee for compiling our ballot for May. They have done a great job. We will be electing the following officers; president elect, board members, recording secretary, corresponding secretary, historian, the nominating committee and NCNA Convention delegates. These people will be representing our district. Please make every effort to attend and cast your vote.
I hope to see everyone May 13 at our next NCNA District 14 meeting at Sampson Regional Medical Center in Clinton.
