Welcome to nursing informatics!
Whether you want to be an expert in nursing informatics; or you are just beginning to wonder how informatics fits with your nursing practice, the NCNA Council on Nursing Informatics (CoNI) invites you to learn more by exploring these pages and attending council meetings. The American Nurses Association identified nursing informatics as an area of specialty practice in 1992. The ultimate goal of nursing informatics is to “improve the health of population, communities, families and individuals by optimizing information management and communication” (ANA, 2001). In May 1993, the North Carolina Nurses Association (NCNA) approved the formation of a Council on Nursing Informatics (CoNI) as a structural unit of the organization. Since then, council membership has grown through its many initiatives and educational events.

NCNA, as a member of NCHICA, is seeking comments from NCNA members. Please click on the link below and send your comments to Mary Holtschneider
