What is a PAC?
Political Action Committee (PAC)
A popular term for a political committee organized for the purpose of raising and spending money to ensure advocacy and representation. In North Carolina, PACs can give $4,000 to a candidate committee per election (primary, general or special). PACs may receive up to $4,000 from any one individual, PAC or party committee per election.
What does the NC Nurse Ambassadors PAC do with the money?
The NC Nurse Ambassadors PAC contributes money raised to candidates running for statewide office, most notably for the General Assembly. The NC Nurse Ambassadors PAC contributes to both Republican and Democrat candidates without regard to gender or ethnicity. The PAC favors candidates with strong records in supporting nurses, nurse related issues, and positive legislation affecting the health and welfare of all North Carolinians. As previously stated, the PAC can contribute up to $4,000 per election per candidate. Increasing the number of candidates and the amount contributed to each dramatically increases the presence of nurse-friendly faces and more positive legislation affecting the lives of all nurses around the state.
How much do other healthcare related PACs raise?
If nurses want to get a piece of the pie, help is needed. Other Political Action Committees in the healthcare arena are seeing significant fundraising success that the NC Nurse Ambassadors PAC would like to mirror.
Why would I want to contribute?
Contributing to the NC Nurse Ambassadors PAC is a great way to get involved politically. Everyone would like to make a difference, and this is one way you can. If every NCNA member contributed $10, we would have over $42,000! Stated simply, money talks! The amount the PAC raises goes straight to the candidates who will support nurse friendly policy.
