The meaningful application of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in clinical settings has the potential to enhance care coordination, improve patient outcomes, and reduce medical errors, costs, and waste. However, the rapid adoption of AI also raises critical considerations for nursing on how to ethically use these new technologies within their scope of practice. This Forum discussion will explore how AI can serve to enhance nursing practice, rather than diminish it, and how the North Carolina Nurses Association (NCNA) can support nurses with its integration.
2025 Membership Forum Full Topic Brief ›
The purpose of the NCNA Statewide Membership Forum is for nurses to discuss issues affecting the profession and the workforce, and to make recommendations for a call to action. The Board of Directors strongly believes that nurses have a voice and an opportunity to discuss the steps needed to balance AI and ethical practice, thereby moving Nursing Forward®.
This Forum will discuss the following questions:
Q1: What challenges do you face with the ethical and responsible use of AI, or in its potential use, to support your nursing practice?
Q2: What can NCNA do to help nursing balance AI use with ethical nursing practice?
