Why This Policy Matters

The goal of Policy 1.7 is to:

  • Promote Safe Innovation: Encourage exploration of helpful AI tools while setting clear boundaries to prevent misuse.
  • Protect Privacy & Intellectual Property: Safeguard confidential information, member data, and proprietary content from potential exposure or unauthorized use.
  • Ensure Accuracy: Reduce the risk of sharing inaccurate, biased, or fabricated content generated by AI platforms.
  • Preserve Trust: Maintain NCNA’s high standards for professionalism, transparency, and accountability.

Key Takeaways from Policy 1.7

The use of AI technologies including, but not limited to, notetaking tools, meeting assistants, or recording technologies is prohibited while engaging with NCNA except as described in section 3.8 of the policy.

  • Generative AI content should be reviewed and verified by NCNA staff before being published or shared on behalf of NCNA.
  • Sensitive or private information must never be entered into public AI platforms without proper security protocols in place.
  • AI-generated content must not misrepresent facts, fabricate sources, or mislead audiences, particularly in communications that represent NCNA.
