Statement from NCNA on Artificial Intelligence
In December 2025, the Board of Directors unanimously approved a statement on the association’s approach to Artificial Intelligence. This statement and our approved policies, outlined below, are designed to help nurses and NCNA navigate rapid changes with clear purpose.

The North Carolina Nurses Association has introduced Policy 1.7: Acceptable Use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) Tools to proactively address the growing presence of AI-powered platforms in professional and organizational settings.
NCNA is committed to ensuring that all members, staff, volunteers, and partners who engage with the association understand the expectations around using AI tools responsibly.

The goal of Policy 1.7 is to:
The use of AI technologies including, but not limited to, notetaking tools, meeting assistants, or recording technologies is prohibited while engaging with NCNA except as described in section 3.8 of the policy.
