One of the world’s most successful tech companies, focused on e-commerce, cloud computing, and digital streaming, has announced its support for the SAVE Act (SB 249/HB 277). The bipartisan bill, introduced with 102 sponsors this session, would grant Full Practice Authority to Advanced Practice Registered Nurses (APRNs).
Citing its own efforts to improve access to healthcare for the 27,000 Amazon employees in North Carolina, Amazon says APRNs are uniquely positioned to cut wait times and provide quality care in underserved areas.
“More than 2 million North Carolinians live in primary care shortage areas. This inadequacy is expected to worsen as the average age of the population grows; North Carolina already ranks 9th nationally in state with the highest proportion of population aged 65 and older. In 2025, one in five North Carolinians will be 65 or older. The SAVE Act will help improve access to care for this group of people and others.”

Amazon has submitted letters of support for the SAVE Act to both Rep. Tim Moore, NC House Speaker, and Sen. Phil Berger, President Pro Tempore. Click here and here to read those letters. This new endorsement makes Amazon the 16th organization joining the bill’s coalition of support from outside the nursing profession.
