This session for novice to expert Primary Care nurse practitioners covers early recognition, evaluation, and management of dementia, including a discussion of Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI) as a precursor. It reviews key dementia types, standard treatments, and emerging diagnostics (such as biomarkers and amyloid PET imaging), and new therapies (such as monoclonal antibodies (e.g., aducanumab, lecanemab, which may offer disease-modifying potential in early Alzheimer’s). |
