Presentation Title: SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19)-The Pandemic of 2020: On a Collison Course with U.S. Healthcare
Presented by: Evelyn Cook, RN, CIC, Associate Director SPICE - Statewide Program for Infection Control and Epidemiology
Description:
COVID-19 has overwhelmed the U.S. healthcare industry and left devastation in its wake. U.S deaths have now exceeded deaths from all wars and pandemics to date, numbering greater than 700,000.
Inadequate infection prevention training, education and oversight has led to deficient infection prevention practices, including but not limited to lack of hand hygiene and inappropriate use of personal protective equipment.
This program will help nurses recognize how all healthcare settings must have strong and robust infection prevention programs in place to address current and emerging infectious disease threats.
