Description

This session examines the implementation and evaluation of a peer-assisted learning (PAL) model within a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program at a regional university, focusing on its application in both clinical and laboratory settings. Peer-assisted learning, grounded in social theory of learning, leverages structured collaboration between learners of differing experience levels to enhance knowledge acquisition, skill development, leadership skills, and professional socialization. The model discussed uniquely pairs first-semester nursing students with fourth-semester peers, creating a dynamic learning environment that fosters reciprocal benefits for novice and advanced learners while supporting faculty in meeting program objectives.
