What is Virtual Nursing?

The American Nurses Association defines virtual nursing as leveraging remote technology and tools to provide safe and quality care through the application of the nursing process by emphasizing communication, compassion, and collaboration throughout the continuum of care.

Virtual nurses use technology to deliver patient care and services remotely in various settings such as acute care, ED triage, home health/hospital-at-home, chronic care management, and more. This transformative approach supplements bedside care and helps alleviate the workload of nurses.

Members of the Council of Virtual Nursing are dedicated to advancing the profession through innovative digital solutions and fostering a community of virtual nursing professionals.

Support initiatives and resources aimed at meeting nurses' needs and ensuring the delivery of high-quality virtual nursing care for optimal community outcomes.
