Council of Psychiatric/Mental Health Nurses

Upcoming Council Meetings ›

The Council of Psychiatric/Mental Health Nurses welcomes participation from any NCNA member who is a Psychiatric-Mental Health nurse. Non-members who are interested in joining are encouraged to become NCNA members first and then select the Psych Council as their preferred council.

Our council provides a collaborative forum for discussing key practice issues and concerns within mental health—supporting both psych generalists (RN, LPN, and students) and APRNs (NP, CNS, and students). We serve as a platform to:

• Foster collegiality and connection among members
• Act as a trusted clearinghouse for information
• Clarify scope-of-practice questions
• Respond to local, regional, state, and national issues affecting PMH practice
• Monitor and share legislative developments
• Develop position statements and provide speakers for partner organizations
• Advocate for the interests of mental health consumers and our members
• Provide a unified, influential voice for PMH nurses across North Carolina
