Upcoming Council Meetings ›

The Early Career Nurse Council is a community of emerging nursing professionals united by a shared commitment to professional growth, leadership development, and advocacy for the nursing profession. Our common interest lies in supporting nurses within their first 5 years of practice as they transition from academia to professional practice and explore diverse roles within nursing.

Membership: NCNA members with five years or less of practice.

Mission Statement

The Early Career Nurse Council empowers emerging nurses to grow as leaders, advocates, and collaborators by fostering professional development, engagement, and connection within the North Carolina nursing community.

Vision

To create a platform that fosters mentorship, engagement, and empowerment among early career nurses, ensuring they have the resources, representation, and confidence to contribute meaningfully to the profession and their communities.

Council Goals

  • Professional Development: Provide learning and networking opportunities to support early career growth and promote skill-building.
  • Advocacy: Provide education to early career nurses on policy engagement and self-advocacy strategies.

Join the Early Career Nurse Council

Early Career NCNA members are automatically added to this council based on the year of initial licensure provided when you joined NCNA, or on record with your state’s Board of Nursing if available. If your initial licensure year is within the past five years, you will be included in the Early Career Nurse Council—no additional steps required. To view or edit your year of initial licensure, you may go to your NCNA member profile ›

After 5 years of nursing practice, you will automatically come off the Early Career Nurse Council with no action required on your part. If you wish to be removed sooner, or feel you are on the Council in error, please email membership@ncnurses.org.
